Day and Night

We have day and night because the Earth spins round once each day. Children answer questions about the Sun and shadows, work out when shadows are shortest and longest, explain why stars are hidden in the daytime, and reply to a friend who says the Sun goes round the Earth. A safety note reminds them never to look straight at the Sun.
