Place Value and Rounding to 1000s

Place value tells us what each digit in a four-digit number is worth, and that helps with comparing and rounding. Pupils split numbers like 3648 into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones, round to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000, put numbers in order, and explain what went wrong in a common rounding mistake.
