Descriptive Writing
Strong descriptive writing builds a place from specific detail and the less obvious senses, such as smell and heat, instead of stacking adjectives. After a model paragraph set in a busy lane, the exercises ask for precise replacements for vague nouns, a rewrite of an over-decorated sunset with no adjectives, and a structure that stops description turning into a list.
