Inheritance and Variation: Practice
Genes come in alternative forms called alleles, and a dominant allele shows in the phenotype even when only one copy is present. After defining key terms, comparing mitosis with meiosis and recalling chromosome numbers, students set out full genetic diagrams for tall and short pea plants, from parental genotypes through gametes and a Punnett square to the offspring ratio.
