Rocks and the Earth

Rocks come from the ground, and soil is broken rock mixed with dead plants. Children answer questions about where rock is dug from and what sand is made of, think about how to test which rock is harder and why river pebbles are smooth, then collect three safe stones to describe and choose the best rock for a kitchen floor.
