Order of Operations

When a calculation mixes operations, brackets come first, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction, working left to right. Students calculate ten expressions such as 2 + 3 × 4 and 18 − (4 + 2) × 2, add brackets to make a sum true, and write one calculation for a shopping total of books and pens.
