Coordinates and Translation
A translation slides a shape to a new position without turning it, so its size, shape and way up stay the same. Students translate points such as (2,1) by 3 right and 2 up, describe the move from one point to another, and explain what changes and what stays the same, including why a turned copy is a mistake.
