Microorganisms and Decomposers
Microorganisms are tiny living things such as bacteria and fungi, and most are harmless or even useful, while decomposers return nutrients from dead matter to the soil. Students name the groups and what microbes need to grow, sort yeast, the flu virus and penicillin mould as useful or harmful, and explain refrigeration and a smelly compost bin.
