Plate Tectonics
Earth's crust is broken into plates that float on the mantle and move a few centimetres a year, pushed by convection currents. Students name Earth's layers, identify boundary types from descriptions, and decide which observations count as evidence for the theory, such as matching fossils and coastlines. Explain questions ask why earthquakes are sudden and why people still live near volcanoes.
