Solar and Lunar Eclipses

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, and a lunar eclipse when Earth's shadow falls on the Moon. Students sort eight statements as solar or lunar, complete facts about moon phases and the tilt of the Moon's orbit, and explain why eclipses do not happen every month and why the Moon turns red. Safe viewing is stressed: never look at the Sun directly.
