Speed and Distance-Time Graphs
Speed equals distance divided by time, and on a distance-time graph the slope shows the speed while a flat line means the object has stopped. Students rearrange the formula, calculate speeds, distances and times (including unit changes such as 72 km/h to m/s) and describe what different graph shapes mean. Explain questions cover average speed when a trip includes a stop.
