Order of Operations with Brackets

BODMAS tells us the order to work out a calculation: brackets first, then orders, then division and multiplication, then addition and subtraction, each pair from left to right. Children evaluate expressions step by step, insert brackets to make statements true and explain common mistakes, such as getting 20 for 2 + 3 × 4.
