Matrices and Determinants: Practice
For a 2×2 matrix the determinant is ad − bc, and a matrix whose determinant is zero is singular and has no inverse. Working with given matrices, students add, subtract and multiply in Section A, find determinants and an inverse in Section B, and in Section C solve simultaneous equations by the inverse-matrix method and Cramer's rule, including a word problem on pens and pencils.
