Acids, Bases and Salts: Practice
Acids release hydrogen ions in water and alkalis release hydroxide ions, so every neutralisation between them comes down to H⁺ + OH⁻ → H₂O. Recall of universal indicator colours, acid reactions with metals, carbonates and bases, and amphoteric oxides comes before balanced and ionic equations, including the partial ionisation of ethanoic acid as a weak acid.
