Organic Chemistry: Practice
Organic chemistry groups carbon compounds into homologous series such as the alkanes (CnH2n+2) and alkenes (CnH2n), whose members share a general formula and similar reactions. Crude oil fractions, the test for an alkene and functional groups are recalled, then structural formulae are drawn for ethane, propene, ethanol and ethanoic acid, with balanced combustion and cracking equations.
