Puzzle · Class 1–5

Tower of Hanoi

Tower of Hanoi is a classic logic puzzle that teaches children to break a big task into smaller ones. Once a pupil in Class 1–5 sees how to move two discs, they can use that to move three, then four, which is the same thinking behind spotting patterns and early problem solving in maths.

  • Pattern spotting

How to play

Move the whole tower to another peg. One disc at a time, and never place a bigger disc on a smaller one.

For example: With 3 discs: move the small disc to peg 3, the middle disc to peg 2, then the small disc onto the middle one. Now peg 1 only has the big disc, and you can move it across.
