Why is it dark at night?

  1. day: ☀️ → 🌍
    Think about where our light comes from in the day. The Sun.
    Start with where the light comes from. Dark just means the light is not reaching you.
  2. 🌍 ⟳
    The Earth turns round, like a ball spinning slowly.
    The Sun does not go anywhere. It is the Earth that moves, and that is the part most people get backwards.
  3. ☀️ → 🌍⟳ facing = day turned away = night
    When your part of the Earth turns away from the Sun, it is night there.
    While it is night here it is day on the other side. One turn takes one day.

Answer: Because our part of the Earth has turned away from the Sun
