Top 5 Online Schools With Live Zoom Classes, and How QuizByt Is Different

Outschool, K12, Connections Academy, King's InterHigh and Vedantu all teach children live over video. We read what each one offers, compared them with the quiz tools teachers use alongside, and set out plainly where QuizByt fits and where it does not.

The short version

  • The best-known online schools are built around live teaching: Outschool as a marketplace of small classes, K12 and Connections Academy as full US schools, King's InterHigh as a British school, Vedantu as live tuition and test prep in India.
  • Teachers then add separate tools for quizzes (Kahoot!, Wayground, Google Forms, Blooket, Gimkit, Quizlet) and separate files for worksheets.
  • QuizByt puts the live class, the lesson, the self-marking quiz, the printable worksheet and the learning games in one account, for a school or a single tutor.
  • QuizByt is not an accredited school and does not issue diplomas. A family that needs a full online school with certified teachers should look at the schools in this list.

Search for "online school with live classes" and you will find a handful of names again and again. They are good at what they do, and if you are choosing one for your child or comparing them for your school, it helps to know what each actually offers. We read each company's own pages in October 2026 and summarise them below in their own terms. Then we explain where QuizByt sits, including the things it is not.

The five

1. Outschool

Outschool is a marketplace of small-group live classes for ages 3 to 18. Independent teachers and organisations list their own classes, set their own prices and teach them over Zoom inside Outschool's classroom, with each section getting its own Zoom link (Outschool help). Teachers keep 70% of what they charge (earnings policy). It is the closest thing on this list to "a teacher running their own classes", and it is focused on the live class itself.

2. K12 (Stride)

K12 runs online public schools in the United States with scheduled live classes taught by certified teachers, from pre-K to Grade 12, alongside tuition-based private options. It is a complete school: curriculum, teachers, reports and a diploma at the end.

3. Connections Academy

Connections Academy, part of Pearson, describes itself as a tuition-free public school for K to 12, aligned with US state standards, with live lessons alongside self-paced work. Like K12, it is a whole school, available to families in the states where it operates.

4. King's InterHigh

King's InterHigh is a British online school for ages 7 to 19, teaching the British curriculum up to A Level and IB with live lessons from UK teachers, and recordings for students who miss one. It charges annual fees; check its own fees page, because figures quoted elsewhere differ.

5. Vedantu

Vedantu is a large Indian platform offering live online classes from LKG to Class 12, live doubt-solving, one-to-one tutoring, and coaching for entrance exams such as JEE and NEET, now with offline centres as well. It is built around live teaching and test preparation for the Indian system.

Two others deserve a mention. Cuemath teaches maths one to one online with puzzles and a game-like practice platform. Maqsad offers daily live classes and large banks of practice MCQs for university entrance tests and O Level.

The quiz tools teachers add on top

Most teachers who teach live also use a separate quiz tool. The popular ones are good, and they do different jobs:

  • Kahoot!: live, game-show quizzes on a shared screen, with a student-paced mode for homework.
  • Wayground (called Quizizz until June 2025): quizzes that run as a game or a serious test, live or self-paced, with AI to help build them.
  • Google Forms quizzes: a plain self-marking form with answer keys and points. No game element.
  • Blooket and Gimkit: question sets played as games, live in class or set as homework.
  • Quizlet: flashcards and study modes, with Quizlet Live as a team game in class.

In every case the questions come from the teacher, one set at a time. That is fine for a teacher with time to write them. It is a lot of work for one running five subjects.

How QuizByt is different

QuizByt is the platform a school or a tutor runs their online teaching on, and it starts full rather than empty. Here is how it compares, based on the public pages above:

"Not stated" means we could not find it on their own pages, not that it does not exist. Here is what each QuizByt column means in practice:

  • Live classes on the class page. A teacher picks the subject, the time and whether the class is for everyone or a few students. QuizByt creates the Zoom meeting, emails the students and puts the class on a week calendar. It refuses to book two classes back to back for the same class or teacher without a ten-minute break.
  • Around 400 interactive lessons. Short scenes with diagrams and quick checks, for Classes 1 to 10 and O Level, aligned with Cambridge Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE and O Level. A school can import them, edit its own copy, or write its own.
  • Quizzes at three levels on every topic, in eight question types, marked the moment a student finishes and recorded per topic.
  • A printable worksheet per topic, so practice also happens on paper.
  • Thinking games by age, opened by credits a child earns only by passing quizzes, with parental limits.
  • Your own school, your own branding. Classes, teachers, branches, coupons or email invites, your logo and colour. The next article covers this.

Why we built it this way

Because the evidence points at practice. Students in active courses outperform students who only listen (Freeman et al., 2014), and testing yourself beats re-reading for anything you need to remember next week (Roediger and Karpicke, 2006). A live class gives you the explanation. The quiz two days later, the worksheet, and the game earned by passing are where the remembering happens. Keeping them in one place means the teacher who taught the class on Monday sees on Wednesday who did the practice and how it went. We explain this in more detail in online schooling is more than online classes.

What QuizByt is not

  • Not an accredited school. We do not employ the teachers who teach your child and we do not issue diplomas. A family looking for a complete school should look at K12, Connections Academy or King's InterHigh.
  • Not a tutor marketplace. We do not find students for teachers the way Outschool does. A tutor brings their own students.
  • Not a live game-show tool. If you love the energy of Kahoot! in the room, keep it. QuizByt is for the practice and the record afterwards.
๐Ÿ’ก The quick test: count the tools your teachers open in a week. A video tool, a quiz tool, a folder of worksheets, a gradebook, maybe a game site. If it is more than two, that is the case for one platform.
