Chess
Chess builds the habit of asking what the other player wants before making a move. It trains calculation, patience and the discipline to check for threats at any age, and because only legal moves are offered, a Class 3 beginner can learn the rules as they go while an O Level student plans five moves deep.
- Calculating ahead
- Reading threats
- Patience under pressure
How to play
Full chess: castling, en passant, promotion, check and checkmate all included. Tap one of your pieces to see everywhere it can legally go, then tap where you want it. Illegal moves are simply not offered.
Invite a friend to play
Challenging a friend needs a QuizByt account on a monthly, yearly or school plan. You send the challenge, it shows up on their Games icon, and you take turns whenever you like: you do not both have to be online. Chess against the computer only needs a free account.
