Nim
Nim is a small game with a famous winning strategy based on binary numbers. Class 9–10 and O Level students who play a few rounds start spotting positions they always lose from, and working out why is a good introduction to mathematical proof and game theory.

How to play
Three rows of counters. On your turn take as many as you like from a single row, but at least one. Whoever takes the very last counter wins. There is a mathematical strategy here worth finding.

Challenging a friend needs a QuizByt account on a monthly, yearly or school plan. You send the challenge, it shows up on their Games icon, and you take turns whenever you like: you do not both have to be online.
